SME Toolkit

A toolkit specifically for SMEs

In 2002, the International Finance Corporation (IFC, World Bank Group) created the SMEToolkit with the technical assistance of IBM.

This online “toolkit” provides SMEs with a training programme for improving management practices and the overall performance of companies. The tool is available in 17 languages and can be accessed in over 40 countries around the world.

The SME Toolkit programme for the DRC was implemented in December 2013 through the combined efforts of the IFC and a consortium consisting of the Federation of Congolese Enterprises (FEC), AFAD (Distance Training Organisation) and RAWBANK.

The three members of the consortium were selected by the IFC for their key role in the development of the private sector of the country.

The DRC version can be found on the local website www.rdc.smetoolkit.org.

SMEs can access the site free of charge and will find various resources to help them improve their performance in:

  • Information about the economic, fiscal and financial environment;
  • Training in various management fields as well as management tools that can be downloaded and used immediately;
  • Facilities to create web pages;
  • Facilities for networking to promote access to financial services and the market.

Major corporations, universities, fund providers, and all economic operators will also find numerous resources on the site to promote better access to the information and to SMEs.
