The leading bank in the DRC has associated its corporate image with the Kinshasa 2016 (KINFOR16) international forum, organised by Africa Rise at the Beatrice Hotel in Kinshasa, as official sponsor.
This leading economic forum organised by the international economic organisation Africa Rise from 26 to 27 January 2016, included participation by entrepreneurs and officials from various parts of the world: DR Congo, Republic of Congo, Europe, America and North Africa. The participants exchanged ideas on the theme of “The emergence of the DRC through entrepreneurship and the social responsibility of enterprises”.
European, Asian, North African and Congolese enterprises, Belgian, European and Congolese policy makers and diplomats were the prime target of this meeting.
Networking (B2B), aperitifs, lunch, themed workshops, company presentations and discussions and exhibition stands were selected as the format for meetings.
As official sponsor of KinFor16, RAWBANK, through its Lady’s First programme, sponsored two workshops during these sessions: “Female entrepreneurship in the DRC” and “Investment in the DRC”.
During the first focus group held on the first day, Mr Raymond Loambo, Commercial Banking Country Head, stressed the importance that RAWBANK attaches to female entrepreneurship.
In 2010, RAWBANK broke new ground in the DRC by launching the Lady’s First programme, an initiative supported by the IFC (International Finance Corporation). Since then, the Bank has managed to improve the management capability of female heads of small enterprises through training, enabling them to submit acceptable applications for financing.
In addition, and with the aim of increasing the services offered to SMEs, in October 2014 RAWBANK opened a dedicated SME branch at avenue Eyala 1, in the commune of Kasa-Vubu in Kinshasa. This will be replicated in the near future in the other regions of the country.
The highlight of the second day was the presentation by Mr Philippe Brylka, Private Banking Country Head at RAWBANK, who reminded the audience of the place that RAWBANK occupies in the Congolese economy.
The Forum was closed by the presentation of several Kin Pitch trophies awarded to the lucky winners.
